Welcome to Year 6
The time you spend in Year 6 will be both exciting and challenging. In your final year at St. Thomas’, you will have the opportunity to develop even more of your skills and talents as you prepare for the next phase of your learning.
As the oldest children in school, many of you will be chosen to carry out special roles – you will shine as St Thomas’ ambassadors to the rest of the school and within our local community- as you become more independent and responsible.
In the first term, we will study many interesting topics across the curriculum. You will experience life in Ancient Egyptian times and explore living things in Science. Our learning in Geography will take us on a journey to Carding Mill Valley, where we will have first-hand experience of river processes.
Our History topic takes us back to the Victorian era where we will examine what life was like for people who lived in poverty. As part of this exciting project, we will visit Blitz Hill and spend the day in a Victorian village. In Science, we will learn about famous scientists like Charles Darwin and Mary Anning.
In this very busy term (where you will meet your new teachers and make new friends at your secondary schools), we will celebrate your time at St Thomas’ in many different ways. You will make memories to last a life-time on residential and perform a special assembly for your parents. In addition, we will learn all about World War II and about our exciting capital city- London.
