Safeguarding and Child protection is at the heart of all that we do in school.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs F Beardsley (Headteacher)
Our Deputy Safeguarding Leads are Miss C Short and Mrs A Grove (SENCo)
Our Safeguarding School Advocate is Adam Pritchard (Director for Manor Multi Academy Trust).
All staff at St. Thomas' fully recognise our responsibility for safeguarding children and young people. All staff receive regular Child Protection and Safeguarding training. Staff, Parent and Community Advisory Forum (PCAF) members and School Advocates can also access on-line training at any time.
Our staff are committed to 'Safer Recruitment' - all staff including volunteers have been carefully selected and screened and all have had an enhanced DBS check prior to commencing work. Details of all checks are held within a Single Central Record. All new staff receive an induction including appropriate training.
Our site is regularly checked by an external Health and Safety company and the Caretaker works with them to secure any necessary improvements. The Caretaker carries out regular fire risk assessment checks and our emergency lighting and fire alarm system is regularly checked.
All school visits and events have a risk assessment completed and several staff have completed Visit Leader training.
