We pride ourselves at Saint Thomas’ for being an inclusive school where every child can strive to reach their full potential. We encourage our children to respect others and to celebrate difference. Our staff work hard to ensure the needs of all learners are met. Our support staff are trained in precision teaching and attend external training to ensure they can help to support the wide spectrum of SEND in our school.
Our SENCO is Mrs Grove. She is supported in her role by Mrs Beardsley, Headteacher and Mrs Hartley, our School-based Educational Psychologist who is employed by the Trust and works one day a week at the school. We also employ Mrs Powell, our Strengthening Families worker who helps to support the emotional needs of our children. Mrs Callaghan and Mrs Seymour also support children with additional social, emotional and mental health needs or those who are experiencing a difficult time.
We work with a number of Outside Agencies to support pupils including the School Nurse Team, Speech and Language therapists and practitioners, the Early Years SEND team and Outreach from the Cities schools which have specialist SEND provision.
Staff receive training throughout the year.
Should you have any queries about SEND please contact our SENCO at agrove@stthomasacademy.com
